For those in the fashion world, the first Monday in May is one of the most important nights of the year. May 1 marks the annual Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume Institute Benefit, better known as the Met Gala.
This year, The Costume Institute's spring exhibition examines the work of Japanese fashion designer Rei Kawakubo (Comme des Garçons). The galleries illustrate the designer's revolutionary experiments in "in-betweenness"—the space between boundaries.
